WHAT IS CPANEL AND HOW DO I USE IT? Cpanel is your main administrative control panel for your whole domain. You must login into it using your assigned USERNAME and PASSWORD before you can begin to use it. Type in your URL like this: https://www.yourdomain.com:2083 Then you will be prompted to login. There you will find all the features available for your domain. For the online User Guide for CPanel, click here. A quick note about SPAM. We know SPAM has become one of the most loathed problems that the internet has to offer, however it is not Active-Sites responsibility to curb the issue. Please refrain from contacting Active-Sites regarding your problems with SPAM. We do offer SpamAssassin which will reduce the amount of SPAM you receive, but as of this day, there is no fail safe way of preventing SPAM. What type of scripts will your Linux servers support? We support PHP, Perl, and common CGI scripts on our Linux Servers. However, we can only provide customer support for unmodified scripts that came with your hosting package. How can I find out what my absolute path is? You can find out what your absolute path is by going to your cpanel control center. Your control panel is located at https://your domain name:2083 Where is my Secure Server; what is the URL? Your secure server is a link to your existing website. There is no difference in the content of your web site through the secure link than the web site through a standard connection. The URL is https://your domain name/. The trailing slash is vital for content to show correctly. You must purchase and have us install an SSL certificate for this to work How do I setup anonymous FTP? Sorry, we do not support anonymous FTP at this time. Do you have Telnet access? We do not recommend Telnet. For added security, we recommend using SSH2 instead - A 3rd party program that supports this file transfer type. Why do I still see the page after I uploaded my own? To view your uploaded site in a web browser, the home page must be named "index.html". If you are still seeing the page, be sure that you have replaced our initial index.html page with your new index.html page. How long does it take to have my site transferred to Active-Sites servers? The standard length of time for propagation of a domain name through the Internet is 3-5 business days. Does Active-Sites offer any web design services? We do offer web design and development services, including website creation, application development, systems integration, and ecommerce. I need a secure certificate for my site, who do you recommend? Currently we recommend Geotrust for certificates. You can request a certificate by filling out a Support Query and making a request for a Geotrust Security Certificate. You should also visit the Geotrust web site at www.geotrust.com to see what options are available. A setup fee is required for new certificates. I need a shopping cart system. What do you offer in shopping cart programs? We offer the Red Hat Interchange shopping cart suite and the Agora cart suite with our E-commerce packages. You can view all of the E-commerce Package features by viewing the Hosting packages on our web site. What is your path to Perl for my CGI? /usr/bin/perl What is your path to sendmail? /usr/lib/sendmail Do your servers support Java Servlets? We do support Java Servlets. What if I need more disk space? If you find you need more space for your site, you will have to upgrade your account… and with our strong competing prices, you'll be glad you did. What is Active-Sites' policy on spamming? We do not tolerate anyone abusing our servers by sending unsolicited/unwanted emails. Anyone caught sending Spam from our servers will be deactivated immediately. Do you Support SSI (Sever Side Includes)? Yes, we support SSI, just remember to name your file with the suffix .shtml to do so. How do I change the plan that I am currently on and is there an upgrade/downgrade fee? There is no fee for changing your existing plan to another. To do so, simply fill out a Support Ticket. What if I want to change the platform that my plan is on (i.e.: from Linux to NT)? There is currently a fee to change from a Linux account to NT and vice versa. You will also have to make a back up of all your files and handle the transfer of the files on your own. How do I get FrontPage extensions installed on my website? If you are a new customer, it is an option during sign up. For current users, simply go to our web site and complete a Support Ticket. Within 24 hours, your FrontPage extensions will be active. Do you maintain backups of my data? Yes, a backup of your data is made on a weekly basis. If you need to access a backup of your data, there is a charge of for each restoration made, whether it be several directories or one file. You may choose to have your retrieved data ftp uploaded to your directory, or mailed to you on CD-ROM. You may also backup and restore from your cpanel control center. Are there any bandwidth restrictions? Your bandwidth is only restircted to the type of account you purchase. It is rare that users go over their bandwidth restrictions though. What is Active-Sites policy on adult sites? We have thought it over and have decided that we do not want the problems that are normally associated with adult sites. Nudity, and pornographic references in any form (including links and re-directs to pornographic sites) will not be tolerated. Violators of this policy will be disabled immediately. |
